Meet Lazaros Akrivopoulos

AkrivopoulosLazaros Akrivopoulos was born in Athens in 1972 and comes from Palatitsia, Imathia. He grew up in a family where music and dance were an integral part of everyday life.
He has a Diploma from the Department of Traditional Percussion "Filippos Nakas Conservatory" and a Diploma in Byzantine Music from the Egaleo Conservatory.
He has attended "Seminars of professional training of traditional dances" of the Ministry of Culture as well as "Seminar of pedagogical and exemplary teaching of musical instruments" from the words Folk Eastern and Greek Tradition of the National Conservatory. The experience of the seminar "Percussion master class- Dohola technique" with percussionist Levent Yildirim is valuable.
He is a graduate of Deree College, Marketing Management - C.I.S. (Computer Information System).
The artistic experience of Lazaros Akrivopoulos starts from the theater "Dora Stratou", where he participated in the performances as a dancer from his childhood and later on as a musician, framing the music and dance performances of the theater. It follows participations in Greek and international festivals with cultural institutions. He taught traditional dances at the "Lyceum of Hellinidon" in Tripoli as well as at other cultural associations.
At the same time, he has collaborated with the band "TRICHORDO" and leading artists, such as Giannis Spanos, Vicky Moscholou, Thanasis Polykandriotis, Angelos Dionysiou, Babis Tsertos and Babis Goles. In 1990, in collaboration with three excellent traditional musicians, he formed the band "EPTASIMO" and until the summer of 2014 counts hundreds of performances in Greece and abroad, an important discography, but also research around Greek traditional music. He has worked as a teacher of traditional percussion at the Music Schools of Alimos, Ilio and Piraeus, as well as at the Municipal Conservatory of Ilio.He has presented a series of seminars on "Traditional percussion" and delivers music lessons to cultural associations.

Meet Ilias Mavrikis

MavrikisIlias Mavrikis was born in 1973 in Mavrikato, Ikaria. He received his first musical stimuli from his father and mother's parents, who were traditional musicians. He was involved in music from his childhood learning bouzouki and guitar and very soon he started playing at the island's festivals and weddings as a traditional musician. Later in Athens he completed his studies in Advanced Theory:Harmony, Counterpoint, Fugue and Composition with the theorists Orestis Hatzinakis and Thanasis Koumenteris. At the same time he attended lessons from the great master teachers Christos Zotos on lute and George Kirikos and Themis Papavassiliou on guitar and bouzouki.
He lives in Athens. He works as a music teacher in conservatories in Athens and other cities, where he teaches traditional instruments and Advanced Theory.As a musician, he frames renowned orchestras with lute, guitar and bouzouki, contributing to the preservation and continuation of the Greek music tradition.
He has recorded a large number of participations in concerts and cultural events in Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Lebanon, Bulgaria, Italy, Spain and France with renowned singers and musicians. He has participated by invitation, in cultural events of the Greek community in Canada and the USA. He accompanies the "Lyceum of Hellinidon", the dance groups "Dora Stratou" and "Eleni Tsaouli" in dance performances. Numerous are the dance performances of the Municipalities of the Local Government and the Regions, of the Cultural Associations, Private and Public Schools as well as Traditional Music Choirs, which he has organized and edited. From 2012 to 2017, he accompanied the orchestra of the music TV show "Stin ygeia mas re padia" with Spyros Papadopoulos and since 2011 he has participated in the show "To Alati tis gis" with Lambros Liavas.
